Lily and Margaret

From high school to support work
Aged Care | Canberra, ACT

Support worker Lily Stratford started her career in support work after graduating from high school. She has loved being a support worker every day since then!

After graduating from school, Lily was uncertain of her career path. Her sister encouraged her to try support work, and she hasn’t looked back. Lily discovered a passion for support work and began seeking more clients which has led to her one of her regular clients, Margaret Smith. Margaret is a 93 year old who lives independently but receives help from Lily with housework but also for the companionship.

Margaret's confidence has been boosted knowing Lily comes to her place regularly as it also gives Margaret someone to talk to.

Lily's relationship with Margaret has inspired her to pursue a Certificate III in Individual Support and is confident she can use the skills she’s learning in support roles.

Lily appreciates the lifestyle, opportunities, and day-to-day tasks that support work allows her. She is keen to stay, grow and positively impact the lives of those who need it most.
