Personalised support, focused on you
Alliance Community acknowledges our veteran community and the services they have provided for Australia.
We are proud to have been supporting veterans for the last 20 years and understand the unique cultural and shared experiences that veterans have.
Our support workers provide comprehensive in-home assistance for them, with an emphasis on daily living needs, including personal hygiene, cooking and cleaning, running errands and engaging with their local community.
This is currently facilitated under the Veterans' Home Care (VHC) program. The VHC program is delivered through contracted service providers like us and is funded by the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA).
The Veterans' Home Care (VHC) program
The Veterans' Home Care (VHC) program provides a small amount of practical help at home so you can continue to live independently. These services include:
- Jobs around the home, like cooking, cleaning and housework
- Personal care, helping with bathing, getting dressed and overall health
- Small jobs to keep a home safe
- Respite care to give family a break
This is carried out by our support workers, who are thoroughly vetted and screened before they are employed by us.
Staff screening and vetting
Our support staff undergo a comprehensive sign-up and vetting process before being approved to provide support. The screening process for support workers is thorough and includes:
- Face-to-face meetings
- Identity verification
- National Criminal History Record Check
- State-specific checks or screenings (as required)
All these steps help to ensure that support workers are suitable for providing support services.
Frequently asked questions
If you are a Gold or White Card holder living at home and have been assessed as needing home care assistance by a VHC Assessment Agency, you may be eligible for support through the Veterans' Home Care (VHC) Program.
A Veterans’ Home Care Assessment is carried out by an accredited assessor from the Australian Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) or by an approved assessment agency that has been contracted by the department. The assessor will visit the veteran or their partner in their home to conduct the assessment and determine their eligibility for home care services.
