Here’s how support work brings people together and forms meaningful relationships
Aged Care | Melbourne, VIC

Emily-May Chapman hasn’t always been a support worker, but after having children, she started looking for a career with more flexibility. She applied for a role with Alliance Community through word-of-mouth and got hired that day! Since then, her new job has allowed her to work when she wants while impacting the lives of elderly clients like Lesley Norrish.

Leslie and Emily may be from different generations, but they share a deep and meaningful relationship Leslie looks forward to Emily's weekly visits, where Emily helps with household tasks and they chat about their children and great grandchildren. Leslie finds Emily’s support invaluable, especially as there are things she can no longer manage on her own. Emily’s presence brings Leslie not just practical help, but also a sense of love and companionship. Leslie admires Emily for her positive personality and constant smile. Despite the age gap, their bond is strong, and Leslie feels fortunate to have such a caring and supportive person in her life.

Emily, who transitioned to support work for its flexibility after having children, joined Alliance Community through a recommendation and was hired immediately. She values the ability to work on her own schedule while making a significant impact on her elderly clients lives, knowing that her contribution and support is allowing her clients to live comfortably and safely in their own homes.
